Abstract: The rate for magnetic scattering of conduction electrons by Fe impurities in and on top of thin Mg and Au films is measured by means of weak localization in the temperature range between 80 mK and 4 K. The films are prepared by quenched condensation inside an especially built dilution refrigerator, in which the magnetoresistance measurements also were performed. For the magnetic spinflip scattering in the Au Fe system, a maximum in temperature dependence is found at the Kondo temperature of 1 K. Fe impurities in Mg show the differences between the behaviour on top of and in the host material. Fe on top of Mg shows a strongdecrease of the magnetic scatering rate for decreasing temperatures in the whole range. In connection to other experiments /11/ at higher temperatures, indications are found for a two-step behaviour of the scattering by Fe moments inside the Mg films.
